The 2008-09 campaign was a season of unprecedented cup heroics for Falkirk, as The Bairns finished 10th in the Scottish Premier League but secured an historic spot in European football. Under manager John Hughes, the club reached the semi-final of the League Cup and, most notably, finished as Scottish Cup Runners-Up, narrowly losing 1-0 to champions Rangers in the final. This incredible run secured their first-ever qualification for the new Europa League.
