The 2008-09 campaign was a turbulent season of dashed hopes for Roma as I Giallorossi finished a disappointing 6th in Serie A. The side showed their quality on the European stage, topping their Champions League group after a memorable 3-1 victory over Chelsea, only to be dramatically eliminated by Arsenal in the Round of 16 on penalties. The iconic Francesco Totti netted 13 league goals, but it was Mirko Vučinić who led the overall scoring with 17, in a season defined by inconsistency but the enduring heart of the Giallorossi.
