The 2008-09 campaign delivered a hard-fought season for Siena as the Bianconeri secured a mid-table 14th-place finish in Serie A under manager Marco Giampaolo. Leading the charge was the ever-reliable centre-forward Massimo Maccarone, whose 9 goals proved vital in securing their top-flight status. It was a season built on grit and consistency that successfully pulled the club clear of the relegation zone, cementing their place in the Italian top flight and remaining a memorable chapter for the Bianconeri faithful.
