Notes

The 2008-09 campaign delivered a stable mid-table finish for Wigan Athletic as The Latics secured 11th place in the Premier League under the guidance of Steve Bruce. Spearheading the attack was the Egyptian sensation Amr Zaki, whose 10 league goals, including a stunning volley against Liverpool at Anfield, made him a global talking point during the first half of the season. Supported by the creativity of Antonio Valencia and the tenacity of Lee Cattermole, the team established themselves as a formidable top-flight presence. It was a memorable year that saw the club reach as high as 7th in the table and remains a significant chapter in Wigan's eight-year stay in the elite of English football.
