Notes

The 2008-09 campaign for Chesterfield was a season defined by the prolific goalscoring of a club legend, as The Spireites secured a solid 10th-place finish in League Two. Leading the charge was talismanic forward Jack Lester, whose 20 crucial goals were a thrilling highlight and set a club record as he became the first striker in 82 years to hit the 20-goal mark in consecutive seasons. Playing their home games at the historic Saltergate, the team delivered exciting football, including an emphatic 6-1 away victory against Exeter City. Despite a dramatic and unconventional FA Cup run where they were awarded a tie after losing to a non-league side for fielding an ineligible player, the season remains a memorable chapter for the enduring quality of their star striker.. The 2009-10 campaign for Chesterfield was an emotional, defining chapter as The Spireites finished a strong 8th in League Two, narrowly missing the play-offs in their final season at the historic Saltergate. Leading the line was the revered cult hero, Jack Lester, whose 11 crucial league goals anchored the attack under new manager John Sheridan. The season was immortalized on the final day with a dramatic 2-1 victory over AFC Bournemouth, secured by a legendary injury-time winner from Derek Niven in the last competitive game ever played at the beloved old ground before the move to the new B2net Stadium.
