Notes

The 2009-10 campaign was a monumental season for Cardiff City, as The Bluebirds inaugurated their new Cardiff City Stadium and delivered their most successful Championship season to date, finishing 4th and securing a spot in the play-offs. Leading the charge was the sensational midfielder Peter Whittingham, whose 20 league goals earned him a share of the division's Golden Boot and a place in the PFA Team of the Year. The team navigated a thrilling play-off semi-final against Leicester City, winning a dramatic penalty shootout, but the dream of promotion was agonizingly cut short in the final with a 3-2 defeat to Blackpool at Wembley. It was a year defined by the excitement of a new era and a memorable, yet heartbreaking, push for the Premier League.
