Notes

The 2009 Denver Broncos celebrated their 50th anniversary season with an electrifying 6-0 start under new head coach Josh McDaniels. This early success was highlighted by a dramatic overtime victory over the New England Patriots and a dominant Monday Night Football win against the San Diego Chargers. The season featured breakout performances from Pro Bowlers like Elvis Dumervil, who led the NFL in sacks, and wide receiver Brandon Marshall, who set a then-NFL record with 21 receptions in a single game. Bolstered by veteran additions like Brian Dawkins and the emergence of rookie Knowshon Moreno, the team remained competitive throughout the year, ultimately finishing with a solid 8-8 record and the second-largest defensive efficiency improvement in the league.
