The 2010-11 campaign for Cheltenham Town was a dramatic season of soaring hope followed by a brutal slump, as The Robins ultimately finished 17th in League Two. Under manager Mark Yates, the team was pushing for the play-offs halfway through the season, but a disastrous second half saw them narrowly escape relegation to the non-league. Leading the line was the prolific striker Wes Thomas, whose 18 league goals (19 overall) proved crucial in securing their League Two status, although his immense form and subsequent, much-publicized departure to Crawley Town defined the turbulent year and signalled the unfortunate loss of the club's leading scorer once again.. The 2011-12 campaign was a season of soaring ambition and near-miss for Cheltenham Town as The Robins secured a crucial 6th-place finish in League Two, which qualified them for the play-offs. The attack was spearheaded by the joint top league scorers, Darryl Duffy and Kaid Mohamed, who netted 11 goals apiece. Under manager Mark Yates, the season was defined by a dramatic run to the League Two Play-off Final at Wembley after defeating local rivals Torquay United. Promotion heartbreak followed in the final, however, with a 0-2 loss to Crewe Alexandra, yet this campaign remains a fondly remembered chapter of a determined charge for the third tier.. The 2012-13 campaign was a season of ambition and ultimate play-off heartbreak for Cheltenham Town as The Robins secured a strong 5th-place finish in League Two. The team, managed by Mark Yates, pushed for automatic promotion until the final day. Leading the charge was the on-loan forward Shaun Harrad, whose 8 crucial league goals (10 in all competitions) included a memorable screamer against Oxford and vital strikes in their run to the FA Cup third round. Their season was built on defensive solidity, highlighted by goalkeeper Scott Brown's league-leading 19 clean sheets, but culminated in a crushing play-off semi-final defeat against local rivals Northampton Town.
