In the 2010 MLS season, defending champions Real Salt Lake enjoyed one of the most successful campaigns in club history. Led by head coach Jason Kreis, the team finished second in the Western Conference and overall standings with a 15-4-11 record, narrowly missing the Supporters' Shield. RSL set defensive benchmarks, allowing a league-low 20 goals. Álvaro Saborío led the attack with 18 goals in all competitions, while Jámison Olave earned MLS Defender of the Year honors. Despite their regular-season dominance and a historic 25-game home unbeaten streak, they suffered an early exit in the MLS Cup Playoffs, falling to FC Dallas in the Conference Semifinals. Internationally, they made history by winning their CONCACAF Champions League group to advance to the knockout stages.
