The 2011-12 campaign was an immensely turbulent and defiant season for Fenerbahçe, as the Yellow Canaries battled through the immense pressure of a major match-fixing scandal which resulted in the club's dramatic ban from the UEFA Champions League. Despite the turmoil, the team finished a strong 2nd in the Süper Lig and, more importantly, won the Turkish Cup, ending a 30-year drought with a decisive 4-0 victory over Bursaspor in the final. Leading the charge was the legendary captain Alex, whose 14 league goals (17 in all competitions) anchored the side’s attack and whose iconic influence was central to the team's resilience during this challenging year, securing an unforgettable and hard-fought triumph for the club.
