Notes

In the 2011 MLS season, the San Jose Earthquakes endured a difficult campaign, finishing 7th in the Western Conference and 14th overall with an 8-12-14 record, missing the MLS Cup Playoffs. Coached by Frank Yallop, the team's postseason hopes were derailed by a slow start and a franchise-record 13-match winless streak during the summer. Despite the team's struggles, forward Chris Wondolowski had a standout year, scoring 16 goals to tie for the league lead in scoring. Goalkeeper Jon Busch also anchored the defense with a league-leading 113 saves.
