The 2011-12 campaign was a tumultuous season of high drama and eventual heartbreak for Luton Town, culminating in a 5th-place finish in the Conference Premier, the club's lowest-ever league position. The Hatters, under new manager Paul Buckle after the mid-season sacking of Gary Brabin, dramatically secured a play-off spot and then dominated Wrexham in the semi-finals. Leading the charge with 11 crucial league goals (16 overall) was Stuart Fleetwood, but the season ended in agony with a 2-1 defeat to York City in the play-off final at Wembley, consigning the club to a fourth consecutive year in non-League football.. The 2012-13 campaign was a season of dramatic highs and lows for Luton Town, culminating in a disappointing 7th-place finish in the Conference Premier, their lowest ever. However, the season is immortalized by an historic FA Cup run where The Hatters, led by the prolific, newly-signed Andre Gray, whose 17 league goals proved vital, became the first non-League club to defeat a Premier League side on their own ground with a famous 1-0 victory over Norwich City at Carrow Road. This incredible run to the Fifth Round provided a vital flash of glory in a transitional year that saw the managerial switch from Paul Buckle to John Still, laying the crucial groundwork for their future return to the Football League.
