The 2011-12 campaign was a season of spectacular achievement for Motherwell as The Steelmen secured a phenomenal 3rd-place finish in the Scottish Premier League, their best in years. Under manager Stuart McCall, this historic finish dramatically secured a coveted spot in the UEFA Champions League qualifying rounds. Leading the charge was the prolific centre-forward Michael Higdon, whose 14 crucial league goals, including a stunning hat-trick against Hibernian, fired the team to a memorable season built on attacking flair and resilience, marking a defining chapter in the club's modern history.. The 2012-13 campaign was a season of unprecedented success for Motherwell as The Steelmen, under the astute guidance of Manager of the Year Stuart McCall, surged to a spectacular second-place finish in the Scottish Premier League. This outstanding result, their highest league finish in decades, secured a prized spot in the following season's European qualification. Leading the charge was the prolific Michael Higdon, whose phenomenal 26 league goals earned him the SPL's Golden Boot and powered a team that achieved a points total unmatched for 81 years. Though they fell short in the Champions League and Europa League qualifiers, the campaign, which featured the mid-season return of icon James McFadden, remains a defining chapter built on attacking flair and the relentless ambition of the Fir Park club.
