Notes

The 2012-13 campaign was a season of profound inconsistency and managerial change for Preston North End, as The Lilywhites ultimately settled for a 14th-place finish in League One. A mid-season slump, marked by a disappointing run of just two wins in 17 league games from October to February, extinguished any serious promotion hopes and led to the departure of manager Graham Westley. However, the subsequent arrival of promotion specialist Simon Grayson injected new belief into Deepdale. Leading the charge on the pitch was midfielder Nicky Wroe, whose 8 crucial League One goals (11 in all competitions) topped the scoring charts in a transitional year that laid the vital groundwork for a future promotion challenge under the new management.
