The 2012 Carolina Panthers season was highlighted by the continued brilliance of Cam Newton, who became the first player in NFL history to pass for 30 touchdowns and rush for 20 in his first two seasons. The team demonstrated great resilience by winning five of their final six games to finish with a 7-9 record. This late-season surge was bolstered by a top-ten defense led by rookie Luke Kuechly, who led the league in tackles and earned NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year honors. A first-round pick in the 2012 NFL Draft and a 2026 Pro Football Hall of Fame inductee, Luke Kuechly was a legendary linebacker for the Carolina Panthers who earned seven Pro Bowl selections and the 2013 Defensive Player of the Year award.
