In the 2013 MLS season, the Vancouver Whitecaps finished seventh in the Western Conference with a 13-9-12 record, narrowly missing the playoffs by three points. Despite the postseason disappointment, the team set a franchise record with 53 goals scored and won their first-ever Cascadia Cup against regional rivals Seattle and Portland. Highlighting the campaign, Brazilian forward Camilo Sanvezzo scored 22 goals to capture the MLS Golden Boot, while head coach Martin Rennie was dismissed in December.
