The 2014-15 campaign was a season of vital transition for Gillingham, with The Gills securing a respectable mid-table 12th-place finish in League One. The year was defined by a significant managerial change as Peter Taylor was replaced by the incoming Justin Edinburgh in February, who would lay the groundwork for future success at the club. Leading the charge for goals with his trademark clinical finishing was the striker Cody McDonald, whose crucial haul of 16 league goals (18 overall) proved indispensable throughout the season. The campaign also featured a solid run in the Football League Trophy, culminating in a Southern Section Area Final appearance. It was a season that marked the beginning of a new, ambitious chapter at Priestfield Stadium.
