Notes

The 2014-15 campaign marked the dawn of a highly anticipated new era for the club as they debuted under the 'Melbourne City' moniker following the Manchester City takeover and rebranding. The Cityzens secured a crucial 5th-place finish in the A-League, successfully navigating the Finals Series to reach the semi-finals. Spearheading the charge was the sensational midfielder Aaron Mooy, whose 7 league goals earned him the Golden Boot in a season where his creative brilliance anchored the team and won him the Club's Player of the Year award. The campaign was defined by the brief, spectacular presence of World Cup winner David Villa as a guest player, alongside the veteran grit of Damien Duff, laying the foundation for a new chapter in the club's history.. The 2015-16 campaign was a season of attacking brilliance for Melbourne City, with the Cityzens finishing 4th in the A-League regular season and reaching the Finals Series semi-finals. Leading the charge was the sensational Bruno Fornaroli, whose record-breaking 23 league goals won him the Golden Boot and included a spectacular overhead kick in their first-ever home final victory. It was a breakout year for the Uruguayan star and remains a defining chapter in the club's history.
