Notes

The 2015-16 campaign delivered a triumphant return to the top flight for Middlesbrough as The Boro secured a spectacular 2nd-place finish in the Championship and with it, automatic promotion to the Premier League after a seven-year absence. Led by manager Aitor Karanka, the team was built on a formidable defense and crucial goals from several key forwards. While David Nugent topped the Championship scoring chart with 8 goals, the attack was also anchored by the League Cup heroics of Cristhian Stuani and the vital late-season contributions of January signings Jordan Rhodes and Gastón Ramírez. The promotion was dramatically sealed on the final day against rivals Brighton & Hove Albion, marking a glorious end to a tense, unforgettable year for the club.
