In their 2015 inaugural MLS season, New York City FC finished 8th in the Eastern Conference and 17th overall with a 10-7-17 record. Led by head coach Jason Kreis, the expansion club played its home matches at Yankee Stadium and featured high-profile Designated Players David Villa, Frank Lampard, and Andrea Pirlo. Despite a challenging eleven-game winless streak early on, David Villa starred individually, leading the team with 18 goals. Ultimately, the club failed to qualify for the MLS Cup Playoffs.
