The 2016-17 campaign delivered an historic treble for Benfica as Os Encarnados clinched their fourth consecutive Primeira Liga title (tetra), alongside the Taça de Portugal and Supertaça Cândido de Oliveira. Leading the charge was the prolific striker Kostas Mitroglou, whose 16 league goals and 27 goals overall proved decisive in securing the club's first-ever tetra. It was a legendary year under manager Rui Vitória, which saw the club set a new record of 36 league titles and remains a glorious chapter in Benfica's history.
