Notes

The 2016-17 campaign delivered a season of inconsistent consolidation for Chievo Verona as the Gialloblu finished 14th in Serie A, comfortably securing their top-flight status for a further year. Leading the charge was the emerging striker Roberto Inglese, whose 10 league goals proved vital, alongside the enduring contribution of veteran forward Sergio Pellissier and the creativity of Valter Birsa. The year began with a shock opening day victory over Inter Milan, sparking brief dreams of a European push, but a subsequent slump and a late run of defeats saw the team secure safety and then 'switch off' under manager Rolando Maran. It remains a chapter defined by the successful, if unexciting, achievement of Serie A survival.
