After finishing last in 2015, the team pulled off a remarkable turnaround to finish 2nd in the Western Conference and 2nd overall. Bolstered by arrivals like Tim Howard, Jermaine Jones, and top scorer Shkëlzen Gashi, the Rapids went undefeated at home and set an MLS record by conceding just 7 home goals. They reached the playoff Conference Finals before falling to Seattle.
