New boss Adrian Pennock managed to steer the side to 20th in League One, just one point off the relegation zone. This design was kept on for the 2017-18 season where the side managed to improve on the previous campaign, earning 17th place in League One after the dismissal of Pennock in September and appointing Steve Lovell as manager
