Notes

The 2016-17 campaign delivered a tense, gritty fight for survival for Oldham Athletic, with The Latics ultimately finishing 17th in League One to secure their 20th consecutive season in the third tier. The pivotal moment arrived mid-season with the return of club legend John Sheridan as manager, who engineered a crucial upturn in form to steer the team clear of the drop zone. Leading the line with vital strikes was the on-loan forward Lee Erwin, whose 8 league goals anchored a campaign built on sheer determination and the leadership of captain Peter Clarke. It was a successful chapter in the club's history, marked by the triumph of fighting spirit over boardroom turmoil.. The 2017-18 campaign delivered ultimate heartbreak for Oldham Athletic as The Latics finished a crushing 21st in League One, which resulted in their relegation to the fourth tier. The season was defined by turmoil, seeing John Sheridan sacked before Richie Wellens took the helm. Leading the charge was the clinical loanee Eoin Doyle, whose 15 goals were a lone bright spot and included a phenomenal run that earned him the Player of the Month award for September. It was a painful year that marked the end of the club's 21-season tenure in the third tier and remains a defining chapter in their modern history
