The 2017-18 campaign was a season of profound emotion and resilience for Fiorentina as La Viola finished a respectable 8th in Serie A, just outside the European spots. The year was tragically defined by the sudden passing of captain Davide Astori, which galvanized the squad to finish the season under the guidance of manager Stefano Pioli. Leading the charge was new signing Giovanni Simeone, whose 14 league goals proved vital in a campaign built on unity and grit, and which saw the club make history by wearing five different match jerseys.
