The 2018-19 campaign delivered a dramatic season of resurgence for Athletic Bilbao, with Los Leones ultimately finishing 8th in La Liga, narrowly missing out on a European place. The year was defined by a major mid-season turnaround, as a turbulent start under Eduardo Berizzo gave way to a powerful recovery under Gaizka Garitano. Leading the charge was the rapid forward Iñaki Williams, whose 14 goals across all competitions anchored the attack and proved decisive in lifting the club away from the struggles of the previous campaign. Despite the heartbreaking final-day defeat to Sevilla that cost them European football, this season marked a crucial, successful step in regaining stability and remains a defining chapter in the club's modern history.
