The 2018 Montreal Impact season marked the club's 25th year of existence and seventh in Major League Soccer. Under new head coach Remi Garde, who replaced Mauro Biello, the team underwent significant roster turnover, including the departure of key defender Laurent Ciman and the additions of Saphir Taider and Jeisson Vargas. Led on the pitch by star attacker Ignacio Piatti, who recorded a first-half hat trick against LAFC, the Impact experienced a mixed campaign with several tough losing skids but managed to keep their playoff hopes alive until the final weeks of the regular season.
