The 2018-19 campaign was a season of high ambition and mixed fortunes for Porto as Os Dragões, led by manager Sérgio Conceição, began with silverware by winning the Supertaça Cândido de Oliveira. They enjoyed a thrilling run to the UEFA Champions League Quarter-finals, eliminating Roma before being defeated by Liverpool. Though they led the Primeira Liga for over half the season, they ultimately finished as runners-up, two points behind rivals Benfica, and suffered heartbreak by losing the finals of both the Taça de Portugal and Taça da Liga on penalties to Sporting CP.
