In the 2018 MLS season, Vancouver Whitecaps FC finished 8th in the Western Conference and 14th overall with a 13-8-13 record, failing to qualify for the MLS Cup Playoffs. Long-time head coach Carl Robinson was sacked in September with five games remaining, and Craig Dalrymple took over as acting head coach. Forward Kei Kamara led the team with 14 league goals. Outside of MLS play, the Whitecaps finished as runners-up in the Canadian Championship, losing to Toronto FC in the final.
