The 2019-20 campaign delivered a strong showing for Gillingham, with The Gills securing a respectable 10th-place finish in League One under manager Steve Evans. The season, which was curtailed due to the COVID-19 pandemic and decided on a points-per-game basis, was built on resilience and an exciting run in the FA Cup, culminating in a third-round tie against West Ham United. Forward Alex Jakubiak led the league scoring charts for the club with 6 crucial goals, marking a year of positive consolidation for The Gills in the third tier.
