The 2019-20 campaign was a devastating and turbulent final chapter for Macclesfield Town as the club battled extreme financial hardship off the pitch. Despite the efforts of top goalscorer Joe Ironside, whose 6 league goals led the side, The Silkmen ultimately finished a crushing 24th in League Two. The season was defined by a revolving door of three different managers and, critically, by massive points deductions (a total of 17 points) for failing to pay players' wages and fulfill fixtures, a financial collapse that resulted in their relegation and the subsequent dissolution of the historic club.
