The 2020-21 campaign was a season of soaring ambition and heartbreaking final-day disappointment for Napoli as the Partenopei finished 5th in Serie A, narrowly missing out on a coveted Champions League spot following a crucial 1-1 draw against Hellas Verona. Leading the charge with career-best form was the inspirational captain Lorenzo Insigne, whose 19 league goals anchored the attack in a turbulent year marked by injuries to key players like record signing Victor Osimhen. Under manager Gennaro Gattuso, the team still produced moments of brilliance, including a cathartic 4-1 victory over bogey team Atalanta. It was a season of passion and drama that took place as the historic Stadio San Paolo was renamed in honor of the club's late legend, Diego Armando Maradona.
