The 2021-22 campaign was a tumultuous season for Besiktas, who entered the year as defending league champions. Despite clinching early silverware by winning the Turkish Super Cup, the Black Eagles ultimately struggled for consistency, leading to multiple managerial changes and a disappointing 6th-place finish in the Süper Lig. Spearheading the attack through the turmoil was the prolific striker Michy Batshuayi, whose 14 goals were a vital contribution in a year that failed to meet the club's lofty expectations.
