Notes

The 2021-22 campaign delivered a triumphant return to the top flight for Schalke 04, as Die Knappen secured the 2. Bundesliga title and immediate promotion back to the Bundesliga. Leading the emotional charge was the legendary forward Simon Terodde, whose incredible 30 goals, a new personal best and a record-breaking haul, earned him the league's Golden Boot. The season was defined by a dramatic, late-season surge under new manager Mike Büskens and remains immortalized by the thrilling 3-2 comeback victory over rivals FC St. Pauli that sealed the championship in front of a raucous Veltins-Arena. It was a year of redemption and unity, marking a proud, defining chapter in the club's history.
