The 2021-22 campaign delivered ultimate heartbreak for Scunthorpe United as The Iron finished a crushing 24th in League Two, resulting in their relegation from the Football League after 72 years. The season, marred by a dramatic mid-season managerial change and a massive -61 goal difference, saw the club only manage a mere four victories all season. Joint-top league goalscorers Myles Hippolyte and Ryan Loft could only manage four goals each in a campaign built on struggle and instability. It was a devastating and unforgettable year that saw the historic club fall into non-league football for the first time since 1950, marking a truly dark and defining chapter in the history of The Iron.
