In the 2025 MLS season, the Portland Timbers finished 8th in the Western Conference and 17th overall with an 11-11-12 record. Managed by Phil Neville, the team adjusted to the departure of star attacker Evander, replacing him with David da Costa. Portland reached the U.S. Open Cup Round of 16 but fell to the San Jose Earthquakes, and were knocked out in the Leagues Cup group stage. In the MLS Cup Playoffs, they won their wildcard match but were eliminated by San Diego in the first round.
