In the 2025 Major League Soccer season, the LA Galaxy endured a difficult campaign, finishing 14th in the Western Conference and 26th overall with a 7-18-9 record, failing to qualify for the MLS Cup Playoffs. Entering the season as defending MLS Cup champions, the team suffered a historic drop-off, setting a record for the worst start by a defending champion by going winless in their first ten matches. Despite league struggles under head coach Greg Vanney, the Galaxy found success in other competitions, finishing third in the Leagues Cup, reaching the quarterfinals of the CONCACAF Champions Cup, and finishing as runners-up in the Campeones Cup.
