The 2009-10 campaign saw Rayo Vallecano comfortably establish themselves in the Segunda División, finishing a respectable 11th place and maintaining their status in the second tier. Leading the charge was the clinical forward Rubén Castro, whose crucial 14 goals anchored the attack in a season built on stability and a desire to climb the table. It was a solid year of consolidation for Rayistas, with the squad featuring key figures like the returning goalkeeper David Cobeño and the midfield general Movilla, marking a vital step in their journey back towards the Spanish top flight.
