The 2022-23 campaign delivered a dramatic and turbulent return for Lyon as Les Gones finished a frustrating 7th in Ligue 1, missing out on European qualification despite a strong run to the Coupe de France semi-finals. Leading the charge was the returning hero Alexandre Lacazette, whose sensational 27 league goals proved decisive in a season built on attacking flair and dramatic high-scoring matches. It was a nostalgic year that marked Lacazette's immediate re-establishment as a club legend and remains a defining chapter of a talented side that fought through managerial and ownership changes.
