My AIK Football Shirt Collection – Adam Samuelsson

Adam is an AIK supported who lives on the small Swedish island Smögen, due to his remote location he began collecting shirts to connect with the club and now owns nearly 70!

Why AIK Shirts?

The main reason is as simple as that AIK are the club that I support but as I live on the other side of the country from where the team are based and play it is difficult for me to go to games. Collecting shirts is one of my ways of contributing to the fantastic support culture that flows through this club.

How many shirts do you have in your collection?

Right now I have just under 70 shirts in my collection and hope to have more soon!

What was your first shirt and when did you buy it?

My first piece is a simple home shirt from the 2009 season, which I used under my jacket at my graduation. This shirt is now “on loan” to my local hardware dealer, he has a football shirt collection at his store of around 200 shirts from many different clubs, but he didn’t have one from AIK so I thought I’d get them added!

What is your favourite shirt and why is it so special?

My favourite shirt is not actually a matchworn shirt, it’s a training shirt that I was personally sent from one of my favourite players, Robert Lundström! He took time out of his busy schedule to ship it off to me himself, not many people can say that! If I have to choose an actual match issue shirt it is a shirt worn in a memorial match between AIK and Dinamo Zagreb to pay tribute to our late goalkeeper Ivan Turina who sadly passed away in his sleep in 2013 due to an unknown heart condition.

What is the shirt you would like most in your collection?

A special one that would be amazing to get hold of is the shirt he wore against CSKA Moscow in 2012, we won the game in Moscow and went qualified to the group stages of the Europa League! The shirt is extra special as it also had Amnesty International as the main sponsor instead of our usual sponsor Åbro as alcoholic sponsors were not allowed to be used in Europe matches.
