My Coritiba Football Club Shirt Collection - Gabriel Winter

Gabriel Winter is an avid Coritiba Football Club fan who resides in their hometown of Curitiba in southern Brazil.

Why do you collect Coritiba shirts?

I collect Coritiba shirts because it´s the team that me and my family support and it´s the club that everyone from my hometown follows.

How many items do you own now?

I currently own 225 pieces with around 90% of those being matchworn!

What was the first item in your collection?

The first shirt Coritiba FC shirt I received was the 2000 home shirt, I was gifted it for my birthday that year. It’s a really special shirt and has a patch on the chest of the shirt celebrating 500 years since Brazil's discovery.

What is the best jersey in your collection?

The shirt that I am proudest to own is probably the 1968 home shirt, I have it with long sleeves and is matchworn from that year. It was not easy to get hold of and it’s a real antique!

What is the shirt you would most like to add to your collection?

I’d love to get my hands on a matchworn 1985 away shirt from the Brazilian Serie A final, we played at the Maracanã, it was one of the biggest matches in the history of the club and I’d love to own a piece of it.

Do you have any other interesting stories about your collection?

I once went to the Couto Pereira stadium on a training day to try and get a few of my shirts signed, it wasn’t going too well until one of the club’s directors noticed me and invited me to the dressing room. Not just did I get my shirts signed, I got to meet the full team and a behind the scenes look at the stadium!

My favourite aspect of being a collector has to be the friendships that you make. Over the last 20 years through trying to source various Coritiba shirts on the internet and in person and have met loads of great people doing so. I now share my collection through my Instagram and have had conversations with various collectors, fans and ex-players through there too!
