<h3 class="text-center">Sam is a lifelong Everton fan who has become an avid Toffees shirt collector over the last couple of years, he spoke to Classic Football Shirts about his favourite shirts he has amassed so far.</h3>

<p>I live a couple of hours from Goodison but have had a season ticket for almost 20 years.</p>
<br>
<p>We all need a hobby and I think there's a bit of a train-spotter in all of us. It can be a real buzz hunting out match worn shirts. I stopped buying replica shirts a long time ago and toyed with the idea of owning match worn shirts. There are some amazing collections out there, some almost museums within their own rights. Speaking to fellow collectors gave me the inspiration to start my own and everyone I've spoken to has been amazing with their support.</p>

<h4 class="text-uppercase text-left">How many shirts do you have in your collection?</h4>
<br>
<p>I've collected around 40 shirts which is still quite humble compared to other collectors but it is a work in progress. My initial aim is to get hold of all the home shirts from the 1980's onwards and then reassess my collecting aims if I reach this goal.</p>

<h4 class="text-left text-uppercase">What was your first shirt and when did you buy it?</h4>
<br>
<p>The first match worn shirt I bought was a Ross Barkley poppy shirt in 2015. I did have a Duncan Ferguson match worn shirt prior to this but it was the Barkley shirt that kicked off my desire to start collecting match worn shirts.</p>

<h4 class="text-uppercase text-left">What is your favourite shirt and why is it so special?</h4>
<br>
<p>I love my 80's shirts so much but one shirt that means a lot to me is my Gary Speed 1996 home shirt. This is from the game at Anfield. Every Evertonian dreams about scoring a goal against Liverpool at the Kop End and Gary achieved it in this shirt. I also love the differences between the player and replica versions of this shirt.</p>

<h4 class="text-uppercase text-left">What is the rarest shirt in your collection?</h4>

<p>Without doubt Kevin Sheedy's European Cup Winners Cup Shirt from 1985. When I started collecting, I never imagined owning this shirt. Thanks to Doug and CFS, this shirt now takes pride of place in my collection. The Le Coq Sportif era in the 1980's coincided with arguably our most successful period as a club and to own such an iconic shirt is a great privilege.</p>
